Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of “The Dr. Oz Show” is vice-chair and professor of surgery at Columbia University. He directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital where he performs 150-200 heart operations annually.
Dr. Oz has authored several New York Times bestsellers including the YOU book series with Dr. Michael Roizen. Their most recent book, YOU: Having a Baby was published in December of 2009. Dr. Oz has been honored with numerous awards including being named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2008, Esquire magazine’s 75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century, “Doctor of the Year” by Hippocrates magazine and “Healer of the Millennium” by Healthy Living magazine. Dr. Oz is annually elected as a highest quality physician by the Castle Connolly Guide as well as other major ranking groups.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Oz received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and obtained a joint MD and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Wharton Business School. He lives in Cliffside Park, NJ, with his wife Lisa of 23 years and their four children, Daphne, Arabella, Zoe, and Oliver.
Michael F. Roizen, MD
Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute
Dr. Michael Roizen is the first Chief Wellness Officer at any major academic medical center, the Cleveland Clinic, where he is also the chairman of their Wellness Institute. Dr. Roizen is boarded in both internal medicine and anesthesiology. He has founded six companies, co-invented a drug recently approved by FDA and written four number one New York Times bestsellers, his books include the YOU series co-authored with Dr. Mehmet Oz. Dr Roizen is also the co-founder of RealAge, Inc., and he is currently the chairman of the RealAge Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Roizen is a past chair of a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee and a former editor for six medical journals with more than 165 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 100 textbook chapters, 30 editorials and four medical books to his name.
Dr. Roizen is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the University of California at San Francisco, School of Medicine. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital, and anesthesiology at University of California at San Francisco and completed Public Health Service at the National Institutes of Health.

David L. Katz, MD, MPH, FACPM, FACP
Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center
Dr. Katz, MD is the founding director of the Yale-Giffin Prevention Research Center. He received his BA from Dartmouth College (1984; Magna Cum Laude); his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (1988); and his MPH from the Yale University School of Public Health (1993). He is a board certified specialist in both Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine/Public Health. Katz is Director and founder of the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital (2000) in Derby, CT, and founder and president of the non-profit Turn the Tide Foundation.
Know internationally for expertise in nutrition, weight management, and chronic disease prevention, as well as integrative care and patient-centered care models, Katz is active in patient care, research, teaching, and public health practice. He established, and formerly directed, one of the nation’s first combined residency programs in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine; and served as Director of Medical Studies in Public Health at the Yale School of Medicine for 8 years.
Katz has secured nearly $35 million in research funding. He has published over 120 scientific articles & textbook chapters; nearly a thousand newspaper columns; innumerable commentaries and blogs; and 12 books to date. He has consulted on obesity control and chronic disease prevention to the World Health Organization; National Cancer Institute; National Governors Association; Health Canada; the Health Ministry of Israel; the Institute of Medicine; several U.S. Governors; the US Secretary of Health; and the FDA.

He is a frequent consultant and former on-air contributor to ABC News; a health editor for the Huffington Post; an on-line writer for Prevention Magazine; a health columnist for the New Haven Register; and a frequent source for leading newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times; the Wall Street Journal; The Washington Post; Time; Newsweek; and many more. Dr. Katz serves as a reviewer of federal research grants for the NIH, the CDC, and AHRQ, as well as a number of international organizations. He has been recognized three times by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of the nation’s top physicians in Preventive Medicine. Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, MA, RD
Writer, researcher, educator, and food enthusiast, Wendy Bazilian is a doctor of public health, registered dietitian and American College of Sports Medicine-certified Health and Fitness Specialist. Dr. Bazilian graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor’s Degree from Tufts University, and received her Master’s Degree from the University of California, San Diego. She completed her Doctoral Degree in Public Health and Nutrition from Loma Linda University, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the highest university academic honor, the prestigious Chancellor’s Award.
Dr. Wendy is the Nutrition Advisor at the renowned Golden Door Spa and fitness resort in California (www.goldendoor.com) heading the nutrition program and coordinating the culinary-nutrition program since 2003. Keri M. Gans, MS, RD, CDN
New York State Dietetic Association
Keri Gans is a Registered Dietitian in private practice in Manhattan and holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Ohio University. Gans is a Spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association Spokesperson (ADA), an ADA Delegate for NY State and a Past President of the New York State Dietetic Association. Before working solely in private practice Gans was a clinical staff dietitian at St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital and North General Hospital in Manhattan. Presently, besides individual and group nutrition counseling, Gans spends time public speaking, consulting for nutrition websites, and freelance writing. She has also worked as a media spokesperson, including clients such as, Bayer Nutritional Science, Wisdom Naturals (Stevia Brand) and The American Dairy Association and Dairy Council. Keri is frequently quoted in local and national publications, and has made several television appearances including, ABC News, FOX News, FOX Morning Show with Mike and Juliet and Good Morning America; and numerous radio interviews. Gans is a regular guest on Sirius Satellite Radio's Dr. Radio Show. She was also the host of a weekly nutrition/lifestyle show called “Diet Diva” on Manhattan Public Access TV for five years.
David Jacobs, PhD

David R. Jacobs, Jr., PhD, holds the degree of Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics (1971) from The Johns Hopkins University. He has been on the faculty of the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota since 1974, and has held the rank of Professor of Epidemiology since 1989. He concurrently holds a guest professorship at the Department of Nutrition at the University of Oslo, Norway (1999-present). He is a fellow of the American Heart Association and the American College of Nutrition. He serves on the editorial boards of the British Journal of Nutrition, Clinical Chemistry, and Preventive Medicine.
He has written over 700 articles on various topics concerning the epidemiology of chronic diseases and their risk factors, including the epidemiology of specific molecules, and particularly those relating to cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Topics of interest include monitoring of cardiovascular disease and its risk factors, the relation of high cholesterol with atherosclerotic diseases and the relation of low cholesterol with nonatherosclerotic diseases; measures related to oxidative stress and damage, serum antioxidant vitamins, gamma glutamyl transferase, plasma F2-isoprostanes, C-reactive protein, adiponectin, persistent organic pollutants, and arterial elasticity. Since 1994, he has focused extensively on whole grain intake and health. His work was influential in the 2000 decision of the USDA Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee to add a specific guideline to “eat a variety of grains, especially whole grains”, and in the strengthening of this message in the 2005 USDA Dietary Guidelines. Recent work has included study of periodontal disease, as a model of infectious disease, and its implications for cardiovascular disease. He has published intriguing cross-sectional findings relating background exposure of persistent organic pollutants to diabetes. He has written several articles on the health implications of synergies of different plant foods and dietary patterns. He is also principal investigator of a study of arterial elasticity and is expert in diverse subclinical markers of cardiovascular disease.
Petra Kolber
Fitness Expert
Petra is a highly respected and well-known fitness, health and wellness expert and motivational speaker. She is certified by The American College of Sports Medicine, The American Council on Exercise, The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and is a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Her mission is to help individuals get moving and incorporate daily exercise into their lives in an easy and realistic fashion. Petra brings her own life experience to everything she does. Diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1999, Petra was in remission after 8 months of intensive chemotherapy and radiation. Ten years later she is cancer free. She uses her experience as a cancer survivor to help motivate others who may be dealing with adversity. Petra’s approach is one of compassion sprinkled with humor. Petra has received many accolades for her work within the fitness field, including being named the 2003 and 2004 East Coast Alliance Best Female Presenter of the Year, 2001 IDEA Instructor of The Year, 2000 Canadian Fitness Professionals International Presenter of the Year and in 1999 Petra was named Fitness Crusader of the year by Health Magazine for her work within the heath and wellness industry.

Victoria Maizes, MD
Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine
Dr Victoria Maizes is Executive Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, and Professor of Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, and Public Health at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Maizes is internationally recognized as a leader in integrative medicine. She stewarded the growth of the Program in Integrative Medicine from a small program educating four residential fellows per year to a Center of Excellence training over 250 fellows and residents annually. She helped develop the Center's curriculum in integrative medicine and pioneered multiple educational innovations including Integrative Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine in Residency, two national models for educating primary care physicians.
As founding education co-chair of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Maizes led a team of educators to create objectives for medical students in integrative medicine.
A graduate of Barnard College, she received her MD from the University of California, San Francisco, completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Missouri, Columbia and her Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Maizes lectures worldwide to academic and community audiences on integrative medical education, women's health, healthy aging, nutrition, and cancer. In 2010, Integrative Women's Health, the Oxford University Press textbook she edited, was published. ODE magazine named Victoria Maizes one of the world's 25 intelligent optimists in 2009.
Cheryl Rock, PhD, RD
Cheryl Rock, PhD, RD, is a professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and the Cancer Prevention and Control Program, University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. Dr. Rock also leads the Nutrition Shared Resource of the Moores UCSD Comprehensive Cancer Center. She completed undergraduate training in nutrition and dietetics at Michigan State University, achieved a Master of Medical Science degree in clinical nutrition at Emory University, and was awarded a doctoral degree in nutritional sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr. Rock’s primary research efforts are focused on the role of nutritional and dietary factors in the development and progression of cancer, particularly breast cancer, and healthy weight management in adults. Her research efforts address diet and weight management, and how diet, adiposity and physical activity affect biomarkers and risk and progression of cancer and other chronic diseases. Dr. Rock is presently involved in randomized trials funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that are testing whether healthy weight control and modifications in diet and physical activity can alter biological processes, hormonal factors, body weight, progression of cancer, and cardiovascular disease risk factors. She has served on numerous NIH and USDA review panels and committees, and she currently serves on editorial boards for several peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Rock is the author of more than 220 scientific papers and book chapters.
Walter Willett, DrPH, MD
Dr. Walter Willett is Professor of Epidemiology and Nutrition and Chairman of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Willett, an American, was born in Hart, Michigan and grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, studied food science at Michigan State University, and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School before obtaining a Doctorate in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Willett has focused much of his work over the last 25 years on the development of methods, using both questionnaire and biochemical approaches, to study the effects of diet on the occurrence of major diseases. He has applied these methods starting in 1980 in the Nurses’ Health Studies I and II and the Health Professionals Follow-up Study. Together, these cohorts that include nearly 300,000 men and women with repeated dietary assessments are providing the most detailed information on the long-term health consequences of food choices.
Dr. Willett has published over 1,100 articles, primarily on lifestyle risk factors for heart disease and cancer, and has written the textbook, Nutritional Epidemiology, published by Oxford University Press. He also has three books for the general public, Eat, Drink and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating, which has appeared on most major bestseller lists, Eat, Drink, and Weight Less, co-authored with Mollie Katzen, and most recently The Fertility Diet, co-authored with Jorge Chavarro and Pat Skerrett. Dr. Willett is the most cited nutritionist internationally, and is among the five most cited persons in all fields of clinical science. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the recipient of many national and international awards for his research.
Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, LD
Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, LD is director of nutrition for WebMD, overseeing diet, nutrition and food content on the website. Among other duties, she serves as senior nutrition correspondent, writes features and expert reviews, and provides expert editorial review of diet and nutrition articles.
Zelman has extensive media experience, including co-hosting a weekly radio program for four years, serving twelve years as a national spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and hundreds of print and television appearances including CNN, Good Morning America, NBC Nightly News, The Wall St. Journal and New York Times.
In 2007, Zelman was awarded the prestigious ADA “Media Excellence Award” for her contribution and commitment to educating consumers about food and nutrition. The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) named Kathleen the 2011 recipient of their “Nutrition Science Media Award” for outstanding science and nutrition journalism. Zelman shares her media experience as a media trainer for ADA and other clients offering intensive, hands-on training for professionals. Additionally, Zelman is frequently an invited speaker at professional meetings worldwide on a variety of topical nutrition issues.
She has contributed to books including Paul Prudhomme’s A Fork in the Road, Healthy Eating for Babies and Toddlers and A Harvest of Healthy Foods. As a well respected nutritionist and journalist, Kathleen has served as a judge for nutrition journalism James Beard Awards since 2009.
Zelman has been a dietetic internship director at Ochsner Medical Institutions and assistant professor at St. Mary’s Dominican College, both in New Orleans. Zelman is active in local, state and national dietetic associations and currently serves as director at large on the ADA board of directors. She has served as a trustee on the Georgia Dietetic Foundation and two terms as a delegate to the ADA House of Delegates. She received her master’s degree in public health from Tulane University and her bachelor of science from Montclair State University.
